Colombier Beach
There is a moment early in the walk when you wonder if you missed a turn. Or if this is one of those local myths, passed along generously but vaguely. You keep going anyway. The path winds. The island thins out. The hustle and bustle fade away. Slowly, a familiar feeling sets in. The sense that you are arriving somewhere you were not exactly meant to find.

This is what people mean when they talk about a smultronställe. A hidden place. A private discovery. Something you feel slightly protective of, even as you are still walking toward it.
By the time Colombier Beach appears, you are not just impressed. You are quietly overawed.
What to expect
Colombier feels untouched, even when it is not. The beach is wide and pale, framed by hills that seem to lean in protectively. The water is clear in a way that feels intentional. Soft and glassy near the shore, deepening quickly into blues that demand your attention.

People arrive by foot or by boat, but it rarely feels crowded. You swim. You float. You snorkel, if you feel like discovering what is happening just below the surface. Starfish appear unexpectedly, as if placed there for effect. Time slips. You lose track of how long you have been there, until the light begins to change and a familiar question surfaces.
Will you make it back before dark?
The quirks
The hike is part of the experience, and also the test. The path winds through dry brush and native plants, occasionally crossed by turtles who operate on their own schedule.

Then there is the light. Colombier sunsets have a way of slowing everything down. People grow still, watching the horizon, hoping for the “green flash”.

Some people describe their first view of Colombier Beach as overwhelming. Beauty so intense it leaves you momentarily undone.
Suggestions from Sibarth’s Concierge
Bring water, snacks, and SPF. More than you think you need of each. Wear proper hiking shoes or sneakers for the walk and save the sandals for later.

Come early if you want the beach mostly to yourself, or arrive later if you are willing to trade daylight for color in the sky. There are no facilities here, and that is exactly the point. Pack in. Pack out. Leave the beach as you found it.
Getting to Colombier Beach
Colombier can be reached by boat or on foot. There are two walking paths. One starts near Flamands and follows the coastline. The other is steeper and begins from Colombier itself.
You can return the same way you came, or enter by one path and exit by the other. If you plan to do both, two cars are recommended. Give yourself time and start earlier than you think you should.
