West Indies Regatta
Each spring in Gustavia, the West Indies Regatta brings a sail-powered celebration to St. Barts. More than a race, it is a three-day gathering of traditional vessels from across the Caribbean. The event honors and preserves the art of Caribbean boatbuilding and seamanship, a tradition that stretches back generations and remains part of life on islands such as Antigua, St. Kitts, Grenada, and beyond.

Over the weekend, Gustavia’s harbor becomes a lively stage for both sea and shore. On the water, handcrafted sloops and wooden schooners sail coastal courses in friendly competition and exhibition.
In the evenings, the harbor fills with music, local food, and small artisan stands.

The regatta unfolds around Port de Gustavia, easily reached on foot from town. For those staying nearby, the spectacle often extends beyond the harbor, with sails visible from hillside terraces and waterfront villas.
If you are planning a stay during regatta weekend, our team can advise on the best villas and vantage points to take it all in.
