Le Select, through Jeremy’s lens

Island Life

When photographer Jeremy Perez-Cruz visited St. Barth, we invited him to stay with us at the Greenhouse in Gustavia and explore the island at his own pace. Known for his sensitivity to light and color, Jeremy has a way of noticing what others might walk past. On a slow afternoon beside the harbor, his path led him to Le Select.

Opened in 1949 by Marius Stakelborough, father of restaurateur Eddy, the bar has long been a gathering place for locals and travelers alike. Known for its easygoing spirit, affordable drinks, friendly faces behind the counter, and walls layered with decades of stickers, it remains deeply woven into the island’s social fabric.

Many also associate it with the legendary “cheeseburger in paradise”, a detail that has only added to its enduring character.

Jeremy captured Le Select as we know it best. His photographs remind us that even the most recognizable places can feel new when seen through a different lens.

Jeremy is a Brooklyn-based creative director and photographer whose work focuses on elevating everyday scenes and encouraging a slower way of looking.
